Mark "badgered" 6 of us to Chackmore on Sunday February 19th. A cold but bright and breezy day out via Abthorpe and Silverstone pausing at the new N.T. Stowe tea room for refreshments. A very busy place so probably best avoided in future. Then home leaving Mark on badger duties via Finmere and Mixbury depositing a shattered Colin at his front door.
On Thursday February 16th the usual trio ended up taking tea and the most wonderful cakes in the Syresham Chapel rooms. This after a circuit as far as Blakesley, with cakes at 50p we of course indulged ourselves with seconds.
Despite the cold and threat of tricky roads 3 lads completed the Bicester round on Sunday February 12th.
No less than 4 new bikes brightened up the cold and gloom of Sunday January 29th, the Watsons on Boardmans ( first run out for the bikes) plus the Marin of Colin and Ridgeback of Simon. Destination the Tea Station at Woodford which we more or less filled up. An easy run with no wind to impede the 8 riders that ventured out.
Five pensioners including Bob from Sulgrave undertook a gentle ride in good conditions to Bicester and back on Thursday January 26th. Pausing of course at Jennys for tea and tea cakes.
The windy conditions on January 22nd did not deter two groups setting off from the Leisure Centre. Owen leading the longer ride to Lower Heyford and the very busy Kizzies, his last practice run before jetting off to New Zealand and more cycling. Simon was riding his new Ridgeback road touring bike. Roger led the shorter ride including newcomer Colin.
Back to Wodford Halse for the Thursday threesome on the 19th sharing the Tea Station with the mums and toddlers. John ate the smallest cake on offer which suprised us. Wet roads but sunny conditions.Quite cold but bright summed up Sunday the 15th but 4 made it to Winslow for the usual tea & tea cake session. As expected on such a good day several other cyclists were encountered on the road and inside Jenny Wrens.
It was tea for two at Limes Farm on Thursday the 12th however we rode through one shower at Souldern and beat a much heavier one home by literally a few seconds.
On January 8th a good turnout of 8 had decided to head for Woodford when Simon arrived stating a preference for Buckingham. So we winged a route to Buckingham and took refreshments at the refurbished Garden Centre near the Golf Course. Then to the the Solstice cycle shop so that Simon could try a new Ridgeback. We went for a trial ride leaving Simon at Chackmore to return the bike and by mistake David and Ed still in the shop looking at bikes wondering where everyone had gone.
The Woodford Tea Party made it to the Tea Station on the 5th keeping dry during a day of very nasty heavy squally showers. Not so returning which meant another bike cleaning session.
A New Year and 5 cycled to Jennys at Bicester anticlockwise i.e. out via Fritwell and back via Launton and then Tingewick. It turned out to be a rather rapid and longer Bicester ride which left some of us slightly puffed. But at least it stayed dry.
The Thursday Lunch ride on December 29th attracted 10 riders despite the dismal weather and start in damp conditions. But the weather improved and the lunch taken at the Bell Inn Lower Heyford was excellent.
